A Motion by the Trotwood City Council to schedule a Public Hearing and to authorize the law director to draft an ordinance accepting the recommendation of the Compensation Board.

INFORMATION: Per Section 3-5: COMPENSATION of the City Charter, a Compensation Board shall, every five (5) years, study and recommend any changes to the compensation of the Mayor and Council Members. On February 3, 2025 (R25-13) City Council appointed seven (7) registered electors to the Compensation Board. The Board held three (3) meetings: 02/26/2025, 03/05/2025, and 03/26/2025, and during the April 7, 2025 Council Meeting, they presented their final report to City Council. Should the Motion pass, a public hearing will be scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2025 and legislation will be presented for consideration.
FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT: Should the ordinance derived from this motion be adopted, the mayor’s base salary will increase by $3,000.00 per year, for an annual base salary of $15,000.00, and the optional per diem will be terminated. The annual base salary for a council member will increase by $4,000.00, for an annual base salary of $10,000.00. Annual salaries will be paid in equal monthly installments. Any approved change in compensation will become effective at the commencement of a new term for each elected position.
