INFORMATION: Every year in September the list of delinquent accounts to be submitted to the Montgomery County Auditor’s Office for certification on the tax duplicate is prepared. This list includes the delinquent accounts and the amount due, including a 10% administrative fee charged by the City, for certain parcels of property that failed to abate noxious weeds, vegetation, and/or grass, and were therefore charged for the City’s services to bring said parcel into compliance with the Codified Ordinances. This mechanism is the most cost-efficient legal collection tool available to municipalities.
FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT: The total amount in delinquent charges and administrative fees to be assessed is $697,907.08.
RECOMMENDATION: Recommend Approval
