INFORMATION: The City of Trotwood will host an Expression Contest for Black History Month with the theme of “A Century of Black History Commemorations” through February 16, 2026. The contest is structured to empower the youth of the City through the support of their artistic talents and expressions, celebrate black history in Trotwood and the United States, and foster community relations.
FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT: Expenditures not to exceed $2,500.00 include rental fees for sound and recording equipment to be used during a Black History Program featuring submitters and local groups/artists; along with cash prizes for first ($75.00), second ($50.00), and third ($25.00) place winners. Submissions will be divided into three grade categories: 3rd - 5th grade, 6th - 8th grade, and 9th - 12th grade, for a total of nine (9) winners.
RECOMMENDATION: Recommend Approval
