Ohio Attorney General Mike Dewine Sunshine Laws Training program

PURPOSE: The Open Public Records and Open Meetings laws of the Ohio Revised Code 149.43 is a three hour program provided to allow elected officials and/or their designees, as well as members of the general public, went into effect in 2007 as House Bill 9. The training shall be for every (4) year term of office of which the elected official was appointed or elected to the public office. This program is the only accredited certification accepted as required by the State Auditor’s office and is no longer associated with the Ohio Municipal League or any other training agency.

INFORMATION: In the course of an annual state audit, the Clerk’s office must maintain each certification to be in compliance with the House Bill # 9 for each elected representative or assign a designee.
FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT: No cost to the city.
RECOMMENDATION: Attending this program will satisfy the requirements and will also show that as elected officials you desire to provide an honest open government for the citizens of our city.
