A RESOLUTION BY TROTWOOD CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO PREPARE AND SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO OPWC (OHIO PUBLIC WORKS COMMISSION) STATE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FOR PROGRAM YEAR 2017, ROUND 31; FOR THE OLDE TOWN WATERMAIN IMPROVEMENT, PHASE 1A PROJECT (TROTWOOD BOULEVARD AND N. UNION ROAD).

PURPOSE: Approval from City Council to submit an application to OPWC for grant funding for the Olde Town Watermain Replacement, Phase 1A project.

INFORMATION: For the preservation of the infrastructure in Trotwood, the Olde Town Watermain Replacement, Phase 1A project consists of replacing old, deteriorated and undersized waterlines with new water mains of an appropriate size which will improve the flow and pressure in the area.
The improvements will correct inadequate design to meet current engineering and City standards, and reduce maintenance costs of lines that have exceeded their useful life.
FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT: Olde Town Watermain Replacement, Phase 1A - The total cost of the project is $975,000.00. Grant funding from OPWC would be $731,250.00 or 75% and the City’s share would be $243,750 or 25%. The City’s matching funds will be paid from the Water Distribution Maintenance Fund.
RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of the Public Works Operations Manager that Council approve this resolution authorizing participation in the OPWC Capital Improvement Program Year 2017, Round 31
