PURPOSE: To honor 32 years of Public Service with the City of Trotwood

INFORMATION: Introduce Detective Bill Toney; Bill began his career with the Trotwood Police Department March 18, 1985. Bill has been married to his wife Robin, for 23 years. Bill attended and graduated from the very FIRST class of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy; Class #1. Bill spent his first 12 years working with the Road Patrol Section, with specialized training and certification as a Field Training Officer and Motor Officer. In July 1997 he was assigned to the Detective Section, spending 3 years working all manner of investigations. In March 2000 Bill was selected and sworn in as a Task Force Officer with the Dayton DEA Office, where he has been assigned, working drug crimes locally, nationally and internationally, until his retirement on May 11, 2017. Bill spent over 17 years assigned to the DEA. During his time as a TFO (Task Force Officer), Bill's dedication, commitment and professionalism was always on full display. Bill was the longest tenured TFO, at the DEA Dayton Office and who other TFO's (Task Force Officer), SA's (Special Agent) and SAC's (Special Agent in Charge) turned to and depended on for guidance and direction. Bill has been a member of the South West Ohio Clandestine Lab Team, responsible for the safe dismantling of dangerous drug labs. As a result of Bill's efforts the Trotwood Police Department has been reimbursed, through forfeitures, approximately $120,000 each year. That equates to over 2 Million Dollars. Bill is an avid fisherman and is looking forward to many days spent on his boat, with a line in the water. Thank you Bill, for you dedication, sacrifice and professionalism. You have brought great credit to yourself, your family and to this department.
