A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DECLARE CERTAIN OBSOLUTE AND/OR SURPLUS FIRE & RESCUE DEPARTMENT EQUIPMENT AS NO LONGER NEEDED FOR A PUBLIC PURPOSE AND AUTHORIZING SAID PROPERTY FROM THE TROTWOOD FIRE & RESCUE DEPARTMENT TO BE DONATED TO THE BROTHERS HELPING BROTHERS 501C CHARITY

Body

PURPOSE:  To provide for the means to remove from inventory and declare surplus a variety of items from our current inventory/storage areas.

DEPARTMENT: Fire/Rescue Department

CONTACT INFORMATION: Fire Chief Richard Haacke

INFORMATION: Enclosed is an extensive listing of equipment that have either reached the end of their service life due to damage or technology changes.  Some items are functional in other venues and can be donated as they have no monetary value to the department or City.

FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT:  The removal of the items has no impact on the operations of the Fire/Rescue Department as all items have reached useful life expectancy.  Any items that are sold for monetary value will have all monies received placed back into Fire/Rescue funding line items to be used for the continuous upgrading and maintenance of our current apparatus and equipment as these items were purchased orginally from Fire/Rescue funds.

RECOMMENDATION:   I would request Council for an affirmative vote to allow all listed items to be deemed surplus and allow the staff of Trotwood Fire/Rescue to be able to dispose of the listed items in any way determined to remove them from inventory.
