INFORMATION: The Montgomery County Land Bank unveiled the Blight Abatement/Demolition 2.0 Program. This program will assist in the acquisition and demolition of blight, vacant, and abandoned structures that are compromised beyond repair. These structures are considered to be public nuisances known to threaten health and safety, attract criminal activity, and depress property values. After the successful five-year Neighborhood Initiative Program (NIP), the Land Bank is continuing to support neighborhood revitalization through this new program, which will remove structures in 2020-2021. Participating communities must provide a 1:1 funding match. As a participant in this program, the City of Trotwood anticipates receiving approximately $83,000. Combined with the city’s equal match, the City of Trotwood would have approximately $166,000 available to demolish 13 dilapidated homes.

FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT: The City is required to budget an equal match to the amount awarded, anticipated to be $83,000.
